Former train ferry TRELLEBORG to start new life in Iran

FerryThe former Stena Line train ferry TRELLEBORG is about to leave Greece and start a new life in the Arabian Gulf.

The now renamed SUNNY and Palau-flagged 1982-built vessel has just completed a drydocking and refit at Neorion Syros Shipyards. Work included repainting in the colours of new Iranian operator Karaneh Lines.

SUNNY is owned by MH Marine and managed by Piraeus-based Go Shipping & Management Inc. The latter also brokered the sale of the vessel. SUNNY arrived in Piraeus from Sweden in April 2016 but only arrived in Syros during the second half of January.

Little details are known about the vessel’s new service. She is expected to operate from the port of Khorramshahr in the state of Khuzestan, in southwest Iran on the Iraqi border. It is not known whether she will operate international voyages or a service to other Iranian ports further down the Arabian Gulf.
