Board of Directors


WIMA’s Board of Directors is comprised of seven members, elected every three years by the Regular General Assembly.

Among their duties are the following:

– Approval of new member applications
– Ensuring that members’ services uphold the standards represented by the Association and its members
– Making decisions concerning the Association’s participation in exhibitions, conferences, seminars and other events, both locally and abroad
– Building valuable relations with government and private bodies, such as Chambers of Commerce, Embassies, Maritime Clusters, etc.
– Overseeing the smooth day-to-day running of the Association


The General Assembly of 22nd October 2014, elected the new Board of Directors as follows:


Mr. Elias Hajiefremidis BSc, General Manager of HAJIEFREMIDIS S.A., is a 1996 graduate of Plymouth University U.K. with a degree in Shipping Business and Law.  Upon graduation Elias joined the family business, HAJIEFREMIDIS S.A., which was established in 1959 by his father, Apostolos, and remains one of the oldest and most respected Shipping Agencies in Piraeus. Starting out as Head of Operations, Elias gradually gained the required experience to reach the position of General Manager which he holds until today.



Mr. Angelos I. Drakopoulos is WIMA’s current Vice-President Chairman of the board of directors after serving two consecutive terms as President from 2008 to late 2014.

Graduate of the Law Division of Athens University, with postgraduate studies in Maritime Law at the University of London (University College),Mr. Drakopoulos actively practices law and provides legal counsel to shipping and commercial companies.

His long experience guarantees the efficient completion of the cases of his specialization.



Mr. George Papamanolis is President and Managing Director of ELVIK SA  – manufacturers of Incombustible materials for sea and land interior spaces. He has studied economics, accounting and business administration; in addition he has participated in many seminars featuring economy and quality issues as well as extroversion in business.

He is one of WIMA’s founding members and is also on the board of directors of Piraeus Chamber of Industries.



Ms. Zoe Chassoura is the legal representative and director of the company “ZEA Maritime Services Inc” which was founded in early 2009, based in the Marshall Islands and with established offices in Piraeus/ Greece.

Since the early years of her professional career in 1988, she worked in a company with similar activities, where she dealt with providing services to the maritime community, in the field of spare parts supply, as well as the representation of major companies worldwide.

During her long involvement in this sector (21 years), she gained valuable experience, creating the proper background for establishing her own company.

She has successfully attended Lead Auditors Course of BVQi (October 1998) as well as the Internal Auditors course of LRQA (ISO 9001: 2008) (December 2010), and has been certified as an affiliated member of SNAME (Society of Naval Architects & Marine Engineers), as of August 2010.

Ms. Chassoura continuously attends seminars, focusing on the latest developments and new legislation in the shipping industry, updating her knowledge to adequately respond to the increasing demands of partners – clients of her company.










Mr. Thanassis M. Athanassopoulos is president and managing director of UTECO S.A.

UTECO S.A. manufactures temperature probes and exclusively represents worldwide brands of measuring and automation equipment. The company has been active in the field of marine and industrial automation since 1972.

Mr. Athanassopoulos has personally been involved in the production, sales and export departments and since 2004 holds the position of General Manager.



Rea Papadopoulou, Architect MSC of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki,  is  sales coordinator and member of the board of the family business J. & E. PAPADOPOULOS S.A. – a distributing and engineering consulting company in the fields of mechanical engineering products such as bearings, seals and power transition products.

She has attended many technical training sessions, workshops and seminars in the factories that the company represents, such as: SKF research Center, Netherlands, SKF OK couplings Sweden, Trelleborg Marine bearings in England, Emerson Power Transmission in Belgium, Bremskerl in Germany, Cooper Bearings in England etc.




In 1990 he works at PSYCTOTHERM as a refrigeration apprentice.

In 2000, he assumes management of the entire company and thus begins the business activity. As General Manager, Mr. Lygeros expands the companies activities in both construction and trade.

In 2008 inaugurates a commercial store in a private owned building of 850m2, selling spare parts and machinery. Today, PSYCTOTHERM represents and collaborates with international leading companies. In 2011, he creates ‘ARKTOS’ for the construction of cool and thermal components ( heat exchangers ) .
